Maternal and Child Health Service

The MDAS Maternal and Child Health Service is located at MDAS in Mildura and Swan Hill.

The service provides flexible and culturally-appropriate care, support and education to Aboriginal families with babies and children aged 0 - 6 years.

The team includes Maternal and Child Health Nurses (who have extra qualifications in midwifery and Maternal and Child Health) and Aboriginal Health Workers.

This service is free and aims to promote the health and well-being of our children. Aboriginal health checks for children aged 0-6 are available through our service.

We work closely with the MDAS Aboriginal Maternity Service and the MDAS Early Years Team.

We provide information and support for:

  • Breast feeding
  • Child health and development
  • Immunizations
  • Nutrition
  • Play and learning
  • Maternal/paternal health and wellbeing
  • Accident and injury prevention (including safe sleeping)
  • Childhood illnesses
  • Local support services and resources

Consultations can be done at the clinic or at the home.

For after-hours information and advice, the Maternal and Child Health Line is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week on 132 229.
