Healing, supporting, serving and protecting our communities throughout the Mallee region.
Originally known as the Sunraysia District Aboriginal Corporation, Mallee District Aboriginal Services began operations in the early 1980s. Back then the service was delivered by two staff from one small, shared office.
Since then, the service has steadily grown, and changed its name accordingly. First to the Mildura Aboriginal Corporation, and then in 2013, when it began providing support to the communities of Swan Hill and Kerang, it became the Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS), reflecting its increased footprint.
MDAS now has over 260 staff based in offices in Mildura, Swan Hill and Kerang, providing services for a client population of 5000 people, in a catchment of 32,618 km2. Priding itself on offering culturally safe, evidenced-based support, MDAS delivers community services, which support families, children, youth and adults, and include disability, social and emotional and wellbeing, housing, chronic disease management and general health, with a focus on early intervention, prevention and empowerment.
As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) MDAS consults widely to ensure local knowledge and voices inform our decision making and service delivery, and that our programs meet the current and emerging needs of our community.
One of the largest Victorian ACCHOs, MDAS is a recognised leader in innovative Koori services, with a growing reputation for fostering partnerships and collaboration to deliver better outcomes.
