ACCO Vaccine Van back in Mildura

Door to door and outreach available

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) are pleased to announce that a dedicated Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) COVID-19 Vaccine Van will be returning to Mildura this week.

The return visit will further build on the momentum created by a well-received first residency in Mildura and Red Cliffs last month.

The ACCO Vaccine Van will be providing a door-to-door outreach service for members of Community with access difficulties between 9am and 5pm on Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 November.

The van will be staffed by health professionals from Star Health and VACCHO.

MDAS will also be welcoming walk-ins to a stand-in site at 106-108 Pine Avenue, Mildura (The Big Red Building).

There will be an assortment of giveaways including VACCHO’s new ‘Protect Mob’ T-shirts designed by Yorta Yorta women Rebecca Hunt and Sarah Hunt.

Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) CEO Jacki Turfrey is looking forward to seeing the vaccine van return to the region.

“The specialised support that the van provided was met with open arms by community in Red Cliffs and Mildura last month,” Ms Turfrey said.

“Staff were able to have pragmatic and truthful conversations with community about the vaccine – which was really valuable,” she said.

“Once again we welcome people to come along and have a yarn and share any questions or concerns they might have about the vaccine.”

Information regarding the vaccine van's visit to Mildura is available on the VACCHO and MDAS Facebook pages.

Thanks to the Victorian Department of Health for their support with the vaccination van.

For more information, or to have a yarn about the vaccine please contact MDAS Mildura on (03) 5018 4100 or email covidvaccineclinic@mdas.org.au.
