MDAS puts out call for Board nominations
Board nominations are now open and MDAS is encouraging community members who want to make a postive impact in their community to apply.
Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is calling for interested community members to nominate for the upcoming Board elections.
Board Chair, Ms Vicki Clark OAM, says stepping onto the MDAS Board is a powerful way to have a positive impact on community and to have a say in the strategic direction of the Organisation.
“The current Board represents three municipalities, Mildura, Swan Hill and Kerang, and we have heard and responded to, the expectations of those communities. It was made clear to us that we needed to focus on resetting the future of MDAS, ensuring quality of service delivery, rebuilding our reputation and reconnecting with our communities.
“Despite many challenges, including the pandemic, the Board, along with the senior leadership and staff of MDAS, have made significant progress over the last twelve months. We have addressed issues and set an agenda that is underpinned by integrity, accountability and respect.”
Ms. Clark says that the progress that has been made means that it is now an opportune time for people to step onto the Board.
“There are a lot of exciting plans on the horizon and a new Board member can be part of that and make a valuable contribution to supporting our Mob across the Mallee.”
The new Board members will be selected via an election that will be held during the MDAS Annual General Meeting, on November 26
th and Ms. Clark says interested people have until October 20 to lodge their nomination.
Information about the obligations of Board members and nomination forms can be collected from Reception across all MDAS sites, or by emailing
returningofficer@mdas.org.au
“I strongly encourage people who can commit to being available for training and board, committee and community meetings to nominate to be part of the journey because we believe MDAS is on the right path. We are grateful for the advice and guidance that has helped us get to where we are today, and we look forward to the contributions of dedicated, new Board members as we continue to move forward,” Ms. Clark says.
