Our experienced Maternal and Child Health Nurses, together with our Aboriginal Health Workers, will help you through those early days and months, with home visits and / or clinic appointments.
Our Maternal and Child Health program is free and includes help and information for families with children aged 0-5 years.
We are part of the MDAS Early Years team, and we work closely with our Koori Maternity Service, Early Learning team and Family Support Services.
Along with caring for you and your partner, as you adjust to being new parents, we also offer baby health and developmental checks so you can feel confident that your little one is healthy.
We offer home visits for the first five weeks following the birth of your baby and our service can do extra visits either at the clinic or at your home if you need that extra support.
MDAS Maternal and Child Health provides a full childhood immunisation service and can do a complete 715 Aboriginal health check on your baby/child, every nine months.
Either phone or call into MDAS in Mildura or Swan Hill and ask for our Maternal and Child Health Nurse or an Aboriginal Health Worker.
We would love to speak with you about your baby or your child’s health and development.
Our program can offer support and information on:
Feeding and nutrition…especially breastfeeding
Safe sleeping and settling
Child health and development
Childhood illnesses prevention
Accident and injury prevention
Oral health
Play and learning (we offer great ideas for interaction with your child that will help with his or her learning and development e.g. reading, song and dance and playgroups)
Maternal and paternal health and wellbeing
Referrals to other health professionals or organisations as needed.
